✍️ Sketch Along #3: Drawing Animals
VIP sketch-along #3 is happening TODAY and other details below. You're all animals, wild animals!
✏️I’ve been enjoying sketching with ya’ll recently! Just wanted to share a couple of my sketches from our previous sessions. Thanks to everyone who has joined so far!✏️

✏️What are we drawing?
Let’s get to it. This week we are drawing…
Animals! Wild animals specifically. And perhaps animals that you’ve NEVER drawn before! Rawr! Squawk! Bleeehhp?
The VIP group and I were chatting a couple of sketching sessions ago about what the next “it” animal is in the children’s book world. In the early 2020s, there was UNICORN FEVER, this year I think axolotls are the hot item, next year, who knows! Adding a few fun animals to your children’s book portfolio is never a bad thing. Who knows, you might start the next GOAT craze! 🐐💛
✏️Drawing references?
We’ll be referencing from…
Zoos, nature magazines, documentaries, and more! There are so many places to pull really interesting animal images from and even more places that offer live animal watching, like Zoo-cams! We’ll be swimming (like fish, get it?) in more than enough animal references for years to come.
Make sure to bring your animal drawing art supplies. Quick, expressive tools like charcoal, markers, and chunky pencils will be great for our rapid-fire animal sketch-along!
I’ll add the references and reference sources to the Discord sketch-along channel so you can continue practicing before and after our meetup. If you haven’t joined the now bustling TIAC Discord group, please sign up using the link at the bottom of this email.
