✍️ Sketch Along #2: Drawing Backgrounds
VIP sketch-along #2 is happening this Thursday and other details below. Oh, the places we will go!
✏️What are we drawing?
Backgrounds! My most hated enemy 😂 My happy place is drawing lots and lots of characters and even thinking of drawing backgrounds gives me the chills. Oof.
But that’s EXACTLY why I need to practice sketching places, settings, and environments with ya’ll this week. We must face our fears! And perhaps we can even find fun in drawing backgrounds 🏡
✏️Drawing references?
Because this is a broad topic we’ll be referencing…
From lots of places! I’m compiling images from Pinterest, stock photo sites, ancient internet archives, and more!! We’ll have plenty to work with, considering backgrounds can take lots of thought and care to sketch out.
Make sure to bring your background drawing art supplies. Big, chunky colored pencils, oil pastels, and even cracking out paints will be a good idea for blocking out large, landscape-esque shapes this week.
I’ll add the references to the Discord sketch-along channel so you can continue practicing before and after our meetup. If you haven’t joined the now bustling TIAC Discord group, please sign up using the link at the bottom of this email.
